The story behind the Coba
I designed the Coba set and its textile print more than 20 years ago (!!). It was first sold as a finished loungewear set and later released as a sewing pattern, allowing sewists to experiment with their own fabric combinations. More than two decades later, it is still a customer favorite.

Top tips for sewing your Coba
- Fabric choice: Fine cotton poplin, satin cotton, or silk work beautifully. Don't be afraid to contrast the facing fabric for a design detail — it's a lovely touch as shown in the pattern images.
- Wrap top neckline: The double-layer facing gives a clean, professional finish. Take your time aligning and pressing it before topstitching.
- Flared sleeves: Cut carefully on grain to ensure the flare falls evenly. Press the cuff facings well before attaching.
- Drawstring trousers: Make sure your drawstring channel is wide enough for your chosen cord or ribbon. Test the drawstring before finishing the waistband.
- Trouser hems: The double-layer facing at the hem gives a lovely weighted finish — no need for fusible interfacing.
- Fitting: We recommend making a toile of the top first, particularly around the wrap neckline, to get the fit right before cutting into your final fabric.
